At Ormiston Forge Academy we offer the Duke of Edinburgh scheme to all our students from year 9. They can complete the Bronze award in year 9, Silver award in year 10, and have the option to move onto the Gold award at sixth form.
You can find out more information on their website here.
The scheme is a fantastic opportunity for students to get involved in activities through volunteering, physical pursuits, and learning and developing skills. Examples of activities undertaken include students helping in the local community with litter picking, improving their physical fitness through martial arts, and developing language skills by learning to speak Italian!
Participants also undertake an expedition which tests their resilience and encourages them to work as part of a team. We have planned routes covering the area from Himley to Arley, and across the Shropshire Hills.
The scheme is nationally recognised and provides students with an award that sets them apart from others when applying for college, university and employment. It equips them with valuable life skills through teamwork, communication and forward planning. Our participants find strength and resilience, a true sense of purpose.
No previous experience is needed; it is open to everyone. Get involved and start achieving!
