Law Pathway

Our new law pathway is for any student looking to pursue a future career in law and work as a solicitor, barrister, judge or arbitrator etc.

Law is one of the most popular A level courses in our sixth form and a significant number of our 13 leavers choose to progress to a law related degree at university after completing their A level studies.

Those who join the law pathway study 3 A level subjects, alongside an enrichment qualification such as the Extended Project Qualification or Core Maths.  More information about the enrichment qualifications we offer in sixth form can be found here. Students joining the law pathway study A level Law alongside 2 other A level courses of their choice.  Further details about the A level courses that we offer in sixth form can be found here.

To gain a place on the pathway, a student needs to fully meet the entry requirements for the courses they wish to study.

Just like our highly successful medicine pathway, the law pathway is more than just a combination of 3 A level courses; it provides students with a wide variety of enrichments and extra-curricular opportunities, designed to help them truly shine in applications for law degrees or apprenticeships in law.

Alongside expert teaching across each of their A level courses, those joining the pathway can expect to receive and benefit from the following:

  • The opportunity to participate in a mock trial in a real court setting, acting as either the defence or prosecution.
  • Further insight into the UK judicial system by visiting a courthouse and observing an actual trial.
  • The chance to meet and question a judge or magistrate.
  • The opportunity to spend a day in a local legal firm
  • The opportunity to meet lawyers from Mills & Reeve, a global legal firm.
  • A visit to the National Justice Museum in Nottingham.

In addition to the above, those joining the law pathway are actively encouraged to apply for any pathway to law programme they may be eligible for, such as those provided by the Sutton Trust or UK universities. Full support is provided in completing applications.

To apply for a place on our law pathway, please complete an application form and indicate on the form that you wish to join the pathway. The application form can be found here.
