OAT Teacher Taster Days
Aspiring teachers across Birmingham and Black Country are being invited to try their hand at teaching for the day at Ormiston Forge Academy, part of Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT).
The taster days will offer an immersive experience where attendees will be able to see what it takes to teach in a local school. During the school visit, the attendees will excitingly be given the opportunity to teach pupils in a one-to-one session.
Additionally, as part of the experience the aspiring teachers will also be able to observe the lessons of the subject they are interested in, meet and talk to teachers and those in the midst of their training and ask any questions they have about the profession.
The day will be open to those looking for a teaching career in a wide range of subject areas, including Maths, English, Science, The Arts and Humanities.
The taster days are being run in collaboration with the OAKs (Ormiston and Keele Scitt), which is an Ofsted outstanding provider of initial teacher training, working with hubs spread geographically across the UK.
OAKs works closely with a range of OAT academies whose leading goal is to transform the lives of students through providing an excellent education and bespoke learning opportunities.
OAT provides teachers with the opportunity to make a difference where it is needed most and are looking forward to welcoming individuals who wish to join them in their mission.
The dates will be spread across January to May and the Academy is encouraging those interested in taking part to contact Kaye Patrick at: [email protected].
Kaye Patrick, Lead Practitioner for Early Career Development at Ormiston Academies Trust, said: “We wanted to provide those in the local area with a chance to experience what it is like to be a teacher and see how providing young people with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed can be incredibly rewarding.
“Across our academies, we have seen so many of our inspiring teachers and trainees who have really demonstrated what it means to rise the challenge of changing the lives of students from all backgrounds. With this opportunity, we look forward to welcoming those who want to follow in their footsteps.”
