The positions of Head Girl and Head Boy provide key leadership and a supportive role for students across the academy. The roles are selected annually and are open to all students in year 12 ahead of their move to year 13.
Commenting on their appointment, Michael and Madison appreciate the important role models that they have become. They see the role as being a combination of advisor and mentor to fellow students, in particular, the new year 7 students who have joined the Academy this September.
“I'm honoured to be part of the ongoing success, development and growth of the Academy. I want to ensure that every student gets the same opportunities that have been afforded me; our voices are powerful and we are listened to inside and outside the classroom, this is why our Academy community is strong,” said Madison.
Michael, who is also an army cadet, added: “We're a big Academy with nearly 1,700 students and it is important that every single one of them has a voice. I'm honoured to have been chosen by staff and my peers and I'll serve this position with great pride.”
Students join Ormiston Forge Academy at any point from year 7 to year 12 (6th form) and so the roles of Head Boy and Girl are instrumental in supporting all students as they arrive and progress throughout the Academy.
Dr Lisa Mason, Principal, added “The selection of Madison and Michael as Head Girl and Head Boy is a great choice and I’m really looking forward to working with them as they take on this important role for our Forge family."
It's not too late to join the Forge sixth form and we have a limited number of places left this year. We believe Ormiston Forge Academy is the best place for post 16 study in Sandwell and Dudley; our pathways and outstanding support will ensure the next step in your life to work or university is a successful one.
