Year 11 - Update

Dear Families,

For many of our students today marks their final exam, with just a handful of GCSEs still to come next week. I’d like to start by congratulating them on their achievements over the past five weeks and to also thank you for all your support.

There are a number of key events still to come for our Year 11 students, so please make a note of the dates and times listed below.

GCSE Results Day – Thursday 24th August 2023

Students are welcome to collect their GCSE results between 08:30 am and 12:00 pm on Thursday 24th August. Students (and parents) should enter the school via the Main Reception where you will sign in and be given instructions on where to collect envelopes.

If, for whatever reason, a student is unable to collect their results in person, they may send someone on their behalf with written and signed consent to collect their results for them. This cannot be one of their friends in Year 11. It should, ideally, be another family member of family friend.

Alternatively, results will be released for all students at 12:00 pm via EduLink.

Leavers’ Assembly – Wednesday 21st June 2023

A reminder that the Year 11 Leavers’ Assembly will take place in the Gym between 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm on Wednesday 21st June. Students may attend in their own clothes but may wish to bring an old school shirt to collect commemorative signatures from their friends before they leave.

Prom – Friday 23rd June 2023

The Prom will take place on Friday 23rd June at The Village Hotel, Dudley between 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm.

The evening will be alcohol-free for students with a variety of soft drinks available to purchase from the bar. Any student who arrives significantly under the influence, or in possession of, alcohol, or any other illicit substance will be refused entry.

Sixth Form Induction Day – Friday 30th June

Sixth form induction day will take place on Friday 30th June for all students who have expressed an interest in attending 6th Form with us next year. Students are welcome to wear their own clothes, but should wear sportswear if they intend to pursue a football scholarship with us. Normal school times apply on this day, although those pursuing a football scholarship will finish later.

Finally, I would like to thank you all, once more, for all your support, not just over the past year, but, for many of you, the past five years. The end of Year 11 is one that is always filled with mixed emotions: it is a time to celebrate everything that our young people have achieved in their time with us, but it is also a time for goodbyes. We look forward to welcoming our students back next Wednesday where we can give them a proper send-off, and we hope to welcome many of you back in September to continue our journey together.

Have a lovely summer and please make sure our Year 11s enjoy some well-earned rest!

Yours sincerely,

Mr. C. Tyrie (Assistant Principal KS4)
