This national award provides external recognition of the high-quality careers education, information, advice, and guidance provided at the school.

The Career Mark Assessor visit in January commended the school’s work to continually monitor, review and evaluate the school’s approach to its CEIAG (careers, education, information, advice and guidance) provision: “The academy clearly raises the aspirations of many learners, helps them to experience and learn about the world of work as well as thinking about their future and how they can achieve their career aims. Staff work hard to ensure careers is part of the curriculum and support learners to achieve their individual ambitions.

The Assessor continued, “The learners at Ormiston Forge Academy are developing the skills, knowledge and attitudes to be effective career planners. There is a range of inputs and experiences to help them develop and a wide range of very much appreciated support provided internally.

Careers Leader, Rachel McCarthy said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the Quality in Careers Standard, it recognises that we are a school that can demonstrate that we are working towards the Department of Education’s Gatsby Benchmarks which are a measure of the provision of excellent careers education, information, advice, and guidance for all students from year 7 to year 14.

Forge is a school that isn’t just concerned about academic achievement, we are committed to supporting a range of work experience opportunities, extra-curricular clubs, enterprise education and off-timetable days that help our students to understand the skills they will need in a fast-changing world. Ensuring that our students are well-rounded, well-prepared, happy young people is key to all of our successes.

Career Mark recognises the quality of the independent and impartial guidance and ensures students leave with the confidence and skills required to enter the world of work and further/higher education. Career Mark Accreditation demonstrates to all our stakeholders, including Ofsted that we are providing an efficient and effective careers programme through management, guidance, curriculum and information.
