No black staff or students should have to change their natural or protective hairstyle in order to thrive at our school. We hope that the Halo Code will move us one step closer to a world free from discrimination, where all black members of our community have their identities fully recognised and celebrated. We are the first school in the West Midlands to adopt this code.
We will be updating our uniform policy in due course to reflect The Halo Code. However, it is important to state that we still expect students to be smart and take pride in their appearance. Preparing students for the next phase of their lives, in work or further education, is still key; we will continue to do this whilst protecting students' racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious identities.
