Coronavirus

Dear Parents/Guardians

You will be aware of the outbreak of Coronavirus and the subsequent confirmed cases in the UK. At Ormiston Forge Academy we take the health and safety of our pupils and staff very seriously so we are sharing guidance from Public Health England on steps you should be taking.

We are in regular contact with Public Health England and will keep you informed about any developments. We are keeping the school clean to prevent the spread of any virus.

Following advice from Public Health England, children and staff are encouraged to wash their hands with soap and water regularly to prevent the spread of infection.

You can also make sure you and your children follow these general principles:

• Wash your hands often – with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or an alcohol-based sanitiser if soap and water are not available.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in a bin.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces in the home.
• If you’re worried about your symptoms, please use the NHS website and 111 online rather than call 111 – do not go directly to your GP or any other healthcare environment.

The Department for Education has set up a helpline for parents to call: 0800 0468687.

Additionally, you will have noticed that we are using EduLink One to communicate with parents. Please can you ensure that you have access to EduLink One and that your contact information is up-to-date? If you require your login information or wish to change anything, please contact Mr Daly by emailing [email protected]. It is vital that your contact details are kept up-to-date.

Please be reassured that we will contact parents as and when information changes.  If you or your child have any further concerns or question, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours faithfully

Dr L Mason
Principal
