Guidance For Face Coverings

From the 17th May, face coverings will no longer be recommended for students in classrooms or communal areas, in all schools.

I wanted to write with an update to the guidance that we have received from the Government concerning face coverings.

From the 17th May, face coverings will no longer be recommended for students in classrooms or communal areas, in all schools. Face coverings will also no longer be recommended for staff in classrooms. In all schools, the Government continues to recommend that face coverings should be worn by staff and visitors in situations outside of classrooms (corridors, meeting rooms, offices, and transport etc.) where social distancing is not possible.

We will continue to operate under Covid guidance; students will remain in their year group bubbles in their designated zone. They will enter and exit the school site through the same allocated gates and they will follow the same timetable as the autumn term with separate breaks and lunches for each year group with an earlier finish each day for year 7 (Monday: 4pm, Tuesday-Thursday: 3pm, Friday: 1.05pm).

Ventilation and hand washing/sanitising are still key. Windows and doors in classrooms will remain open. Changing facilities are still limited so on the days that students have a PE lesson, they should attend wearing their PE kit.

Testing should continue to take place and the results should be recorded via the NHS Test and Trace app or on the website using the code on your lateral flow test. If you get a positive test, please inform us too by immediately emailing [email protected] or sending us a message.

It goes without saying that if a student wishes to continue to wear a mask, we will support this.

Thank you for your continuing support and patience.

Yours faithfully,

Dr Lisa Mason
