Post 16 Results 2020

Forge students are picking up their post 16 results this morning.

It’s around this time of year when we are writing press releases and taking photos of our brilliant students leaping in the air with their A level results. This year it’s a little different but the achievement of our students is no less incredible. In fact, this year the achievements of our post 16 students are huge and they deserve our respect and support as they move to the next stage in their lives.

We know that our post 16 students are resilient, accomplished and outstanding young adults and during the pandemic they had to adopt a different approach to their studies. Many of them have been with us since year 7 and this definitely isn’t how we wanted their time at Forge to end. So, whilst they pick their results up today, safely, there won’t be cameras to record the moment but we wanted to say how proud we are of them. We want to say that we are here for them to support them and to ensure that they have everything they need to move forward and be the best that they can be.

Principal, Dr Lisa Mason said: “Despite these challenging times and the guidance we have had to follow for centre assessed grades, the accomplishment of our post 16 students over their time in our sixth form is nothing short of remarkable. Now, more than ever, we will be here for them and ensuring that we answer questions, support with university applications and looking after their mental health and wellbeing.

I know that I speak on behalf on the entire Forge Family when I say that no matter how painful this process has been, despite how upsetting it’s been to keep moving forward into uncharted territories, our students have shone as bright as they could ever shine. This generation of young people have overcome adversity and we are humbled to have been part of your journey, you have driven us forward and our commitment to you doesn’t end today.

To our students, this day is about you and your achievements. We are proud of you. Keep striding forwards and never forget how far you’ve come. I hope that you are able to enjoy your moment but please do so safely.

Assistant Principal for KS5, Darren Grimes said: “Whilst our headline figure of an average C grade is an improvement on last year, there have been a number of adjustments on the centre assessed grades. We will continue to work with students and their families and focus on individual student achievements and grades. I’m proud of the way that our students have conducted themselves throughout this pandemic but we need to ensure that they are represented if there are issues and supported in their next step. I have no doubt they will go onto greater things in the world of work and at university.

If students have any queries or concerns regarding their results they should speak to a member of staff as soon as possible; we have a dedicated support team on site today. We’ve also produced a set of frequently asked questions that can be accessed on our website.
