OPEN: Thursday 3rd December

Following a number of meetings today, it has been agreed that we will remain closed for a further one day meaning that we open fully on Thursday 3rd December.

Dear parents and carers,

Following a number of meetings today, it has been agreed that we will remain closed for a further one day meaning that we open fully on Thursday 3rd December. This is due to the number of staff we have self-isolating, the majority of whom will be back by this date.

As the Academy will now be re-opening on Thursday 3rd December, we will continue to provide work for the 3 days next week for which we are closed. The schedule that we have used this week will run again next week – you can find the details here: https://ormistonforgeacademy.co.uk/news/2020/11/20/learning-schedule-during-closure. Work will also continue to be set via Satchel One.

If you are unsure or concerned about the return date, please write to [email protected] – we will be picking this email address up over the weekend and through next week to ensure parents have the information and reassurances that they need.

We have been greatly lifted by students and parents contacting us to express their appreciation for the live lessons and the work set through Satchel One. Whilst we appreciate that a logistical effort of this magnitude, nearly 1,700 students learning remotely, will never be without issue – I’d like to thank families again for stepping in and supporting us with the learning process. My staff have been working tirelessly to solve any access problems and deliver lessons and ensure our young people stay safe and continue to access quality learning.

As I am sure you will appreciate, the current situation is rapidly ever-changing and so I will endeavour to provide a further update next week if I need to. Thank you for your continuing support and I’m sure that you will join me at this time wishing all families who are suffering from the impact of this virus, a speedy recovery.

Many thanks,

Dr Lisa Mason
